G. pulchra (Brazilian Black) and A. eutylenum (California Ebony)

We have two breeding females of G. pulchra (Brazilian Black) and two of A. eutylenum (California Ebony). One Brazilian Black has been bred while both California Ebony girls have been paired. Both species are lovely, can you tell who is who? (scroll for the answer)

A. eutylenum (California Ebony) is pictured second/below. This female is one of our favorite spiders. We can see why many keepers of the species affectionately refer to their Ebony as "the poor mans Brazilian Black." Although the Ebony is native to California the species seldom available in the hobby. Despite the fact Ebony's are extremely hardy, like their look-alike Brazilian Black the Ebony is difficult to breed. We hope to see one of our females produce so others may enjoy this wonderful species.

P. irminia / Venezuelan Sun Tger

Mother was clever enough to hide not one but two eggscs from us. We were quite surprised to see the web open and a wave of gorgeous and quite large second instar babies pour out. We quickly covered the ventilation holes of her adult enclosure with painters tape, so the babies couldn't escape. Rounding them up has been a challenge as mom is highly protective of her brood. These little guys are hefty at nearly one inch! Mother have given them a great start in life. Many have already eaten their first meal while others are still getting used to the idea of live food. To honor this very prolific P. irminia we now have her gorgeous offspring available at $18ea or $24 for the "special" (includes the P. irminia, enclosure and furnishings)

Love is in the air!

Breeding season is in full swing here at Jamie's Tarantulas. Many females have been paired while some have already dropped an egg sac. We're looking forward to spiderlings in the spring!

Jamie will be out of the office until Sunday 1/5

I’ve been feeling a bit under the weather the last few days. I have not spent much time out of bed as I’m sick with the flu. I rarely get sick but this one really put me out for the count.

I realize I’m backed up on emails, I’m sorry I’ve not been able to keep up with the holidays and this flu sneaking up on me. I’m taking Friday and Saturday for myself to get well. I will read everyones emails on Sunday so we're up to speed ready to ship Monday. Orders will ship as scheduled.

If your question is urgent and you are in need of an immediate response please contact Jon.

Thank you for all the get well wishes! I just need a few more days I’ll be over it. Jon is doing a great job with the spiders and there have even been a few new eggsacs. Updates to come soon!

Your patience and understanding is very much appreciated. We hope you had a Happy New Year!

Jamie
